I simply adored this book! It takes so many things that I love " comics, science, engineering, playing, spending time with my kids " and rolls them all into one very awesome comic book. From the initial opening that explains complex scientific themes in an easy to understand way, to the final pages of the book that describes the different types and uses of handsaws (something many kids may never get a chance to learn), I was thoroughly entertained and educated from cover to cover. Even better, I sat down and read the book with my 8 year old son, and after a trip to the local hardware store for some PVC pipe, we began and completed building his very own Marshmallow Shooter. Now, I can't know for sure if he really learned anything at all, but it sure was fun trying. If you have young children of your own, or are just a kid at heart, go out and pick up a copy of this very different, very ingenious, very awesome comic book. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Aug 6, 2014

While the concept of "Howtoons" has been around for over a decade now, it is new to me, and I cannot get enough of it. It's informative, entertaining and masterful. While it will certainly be a hit among regular comic book fans, "Howtoons [Re]Ignition" #1 is a must for teachers (especially science), parents or bored officemates trying to liven up the dull gray cubicle farms. As noted inside the front cover, adult supervision is recommended. Who knows, those adults may even learn something. I sure did, and I'll be back for more. Read Full Review

"Howtoons: (Re)Ignition #1 is the perfect way to sneak tidbits of education and do-it-yourselfitude into madcap entertainment. For that reason, you'll definitely want to introduce it to the young people in your life. It's got enough imagination and action to carry itself, but the projects are the irresistible cherry on top. Maybe, just maybe, it'll help sneak more physical comic books into the hands, hearts, and minds of kids again. Read Full Review

Co-created by Nick Dragotta (East of West), this story begins with Tuck and Celine. Their parents put the whole family in suspended animation to ride out the ecological apocalypse occurring on planet Earth. However, when the kids wake up, they discover Mom and Dad are missing. Thus begins their journey to search for their parents. I found this comic immensely intriguing and entertaining. It's filled with fabulous "how-to's," since Tuck and Celine can only use their "Howtoons tools" to survive. A marshmallow gun made out of tubing, a face mask made out of plastic, and a working flashlight made out of cardboard! Thank you Image Comics for putting out a great piece of literature that is not only informative about our planet's eco-system, but also teaches kids how to be inventive and MacGuyver-like.
